A few post ago I wrote how I was going to start a little posting project and start writing about my family members. I thought I would start with my sister Patricia.
She is about two years older than my brother Brian and three years older than me. We grew up together on the farm playing with dolls and getting dirty in the mud. We would hop in the back of our Dads pick-up and go to the fields to check on the crops. We played a lot and we fought a lot. We drove each other crazy at times but I will admit I did enjoy the arguments. It was fun running away from her or me running after her making the usual childish threats. We never beat each other up to bad. Just a hit here or a kick there. That is probably why I don’t have bad memories of our fights. We shared a room with each other until I was about 11 or 12. I never told her but I was sad when she got her own room. We would get on each others nerve but I always had a chance to talk to her and we would play with each other in our room. But when she moved to her own room she had her own space and I really did miss her. The first night I sleep in my room by myself I cried a little.
My sister always did well in school. She was in the honor society and was in the top 10% of her class. She was, and is, one of the smartest people I know. She always does well with things like logic puzzles and anything like that. When I beat her at any game I get very happy and maybe rub it in a bit because I don’t beat her much.
She is a good aunt and loves my kids with all her heart. They call her Trishie. She and my parents take my son with them on trips like camping or flying to Washington state. Next summer they are going to take him to Washington D.C. They make great memories with my kids.
Tricia also has some hobbies that she really enjoys and loves. One of them is knitting. Once she flew to Seattle to see one of her favorite knitters. (She used her flyer miles.) She loves to kayak as well. She goes camping all the time to kayak.
I can be my 'crazy and silly' self around her. (She has to be use to it by now.) I never have to worry what she thinks of me because I know she will just always love me no matter what. I love my sister and am so thankful to have her in my life.
